چکیده

Given a solid in R3 whose base is contained in the xy-plane and parallel cross-sections perpendicular to the xy-plane are regular polygons, the volume and surface area are determined. Additionally, the asymptotic behavior of the solid as the number of sides of the crosssectional polygon increases is analyzed.

Affinely Regular Polygons as Extremals of Area Functionals

For any convex n-gon P we consider the polygons obtained dropping a vertex or an edge of P . The area distance of P to such (n − 1)-gons, divided by the area of P , is an affinely invariant functional on n-gons whose maximizers coincide with the affinely regular polygons. We provide a complete proof of this result. We extend these area functionals to planar convex bodies and we present connecti...

Convective Heat Transfer in Microchannels of Noncircular Cross Sections: An Analytical Approach

Analytical solutions are presented for velocity and temperature distributions of laminar fully developed flow of Newtonian, constant property fluids in micro/minichannels of hyperelliptical and regular polygonal cross sections. The considered geometries cover several common shapes such as ellipse, rectangle, rectangle with round corners, rhombus, star-shape, and all regular polygons. The analys...

Modeling of Kepler-Poinsot Solid Using Isomorphic Polyhedral Graph

This paper presents an interactive modeling system of uniform polyhedra using the isomorphic graphs. Especially, Kepler-Poinsot solids are formed by modifications of dodecahedron and icosahedron. Keywords—Kepler-Poinsot solid, Shape modeling, Polyhedral graph, Graph drawing. I. INTRUDUCTION EPLER-POINSOT solids are subset of uniform polyhedra, which include 5 regular polyhedra (Platonic soilids...

Regular Honeycombs in Elliptic Space

WHEN the elliptic plane is derived from a sphere by identifying antipodal points, the five convex regular solids inscribed in the sphere yield five regular tessellations of the elliptic plane: arrangements of equal regular polygons fitting together to fill the plane without interstices. The actual cases are exhibited in Table I, where the last column indicates that, since the tetrahedron lacks ...
